How “Enakenna Yaarum Illaye” Found Its Own Journey
Hello everyone,
There are some projects you work on, and then there are some that stay with you for a very long time.
Enakenna Yaarum Illaye is one of those for me.
When we worked on this song as part of the Aakko project, we didn’t really know what kind of journey it would take. Like most songs, it was created with a certain intent, a certain emotion, and a belief that it would connect with people. But what happened over time was something very different.
The film itself did not have a theatrical release, and in many ways, that changes the usual path a song takes. Normally, songs gain visibility through cinema. But here, the journey was almost the opposite.
The song slowly found its audience.
Through platforms like YouTube and digital streaming, people started discovering it at different points in time. It didn’t happen overnight. It happened gradually. And in a way, that made it even more special.
For me, this has been a very happy and proud moment.
Seeing how Enakenna Yaarum Illaye has reached people over the years is something I genuinely value. What makes it even more meaningful is the fact that it has connected with different generations. Some discovered it when it first came out, and many others found it much later. But the connection remained the same.
That is something you cannot plan.
Working with Anirudh Ravichander on this track was a great experience. His composition and voice gave the song a distinct identity. There is a certain honesty in the way he approaches music, and I think that reflects in how people connect with it.
At the same time, the lyrics by Vignesh Shivan brought in an emotional layer that stayed with listeners. Sometimes, it is that combination of music and words that makes a song travel beyond its original moment.
What makes this journey even more interesting is what happened later.
The inclusion of the song in Love Insurance Kompany gave it a new space – the silver screen. A track that initially existed without a full cinematic platform found its way back into cinema. That kind of transition is not something we see very often.
It also made me think about how much the industry has changed.
Today, a song is not limited to the success or reach of a film. It can live independently, grow over time, and find new audiences again and again.
And sometimes, it can even return to cinema after creating its own path.
For me, this is what Enakenna Yaarum Illaye represents.
Not just a song, but a journey.
A journey that was not planned in the usual way, but still found its place with people. And in the end, that is what matters the most.
As someone who believes in creating and supporting meaningful content, moments like this remind me why we do what we do.
I am truly grateful for the way audiences have embraced this song.
And I believe its journey is still continuing.
